African Philanthropy Forum (APF) brings together African philanthropists, social investors, and partners to advance inclusive and sustainable development across the continent.
APF was created to build a learning and action-oriented community that strengthens African-led giving and amplifies its impact.
Over the years, APF has built a strong and growing presence across Africa, with footprints in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe through its convenings and initiatives.
APF also plays a key role in shaping knowledge and practice within the sector. This includes the development of two volumes of the Toolkit for African Philanthropists and the “Why Give” series, which features insights from leading African philanthropic leaders and explores the motivations and values driving their work.

Fostered Collaboration
Since its inception, APF has reached over 4,000 philanthropists, social investors, and key stakeholders across Africa and globally. Through its convenings and initiatives, the organization facilitates collaboration, amplifies the work of changemakers, and shares best practices that support the growth of African-led philanthropy.
African Philanthropy Forum was incubated by the Global Philanthropy Forum (GPF), a global network of strategic philanthropists and social investors, from 2014 to 2016. APF became an independent entity in 2017 and remains an affiliate of GPF.
